The Guadalupanas of Christ Our Light Parish will be holding a fundraising raffle on Sunday September 13, 2026 – after the 11:30 Mass. The winner need not be present at the drawing.

▪    First prize – TLC 65” smart TV.
▪    Second Prize – 1 bottle of Champagne with 2 wine glasses.

The donation price is $5.00 per ticket. Tickets will be sold after weekend Masses.

Las Guadalupanas de la parroquia Cristo Nuestra Luz organizará una rifa benéfica el Domingo 13 de Septiembre de 2026, después de la misa de las 11:30. El ganador no tiene por qué estar presente en el sorteo.

El precio de donación es de $5.00 por entrada. Las entradas se venderán después de las misas del fin de semana.

Born in 1961, the child of Gail and Danny Long, Sr., eldest sibling of four, brother Michael and sisters, Patty and Kathleen Long, Father Dan was born and raised in New London, Connecticut. There he was baptized and raised as a parishioner of St. Mary Parish where he received his sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
A 1975 graduate of St. Mary Elementary School, Father Dan attended St. Bernard High School, Class of 1979. He attended Holy Apostles in Cromwell, CT where he received his B.A. in Religious Studies. From the Gregorian University in Rome, he received his Licentiate in Philosophy and from Ateneo Pontificio Regina Apostolorum, he received his Licentiate in Theology.

Father Dan was Ordained into the Priesthood in Mexico City in 1994 and was a member of Legionaries of Christ from 1982-2003. He was a priest in the Archdiocese of Chicago from 2003-2022, where he was the Pastor of the Epiphany Parish in Chicago. He returned to Connecticut where his family still lives and was Pastor of St. Mary Church of the Visitation from October 2022 to June 2025. From 2025 to 2026, he was the administrator of St. Oscar Romero Parish in Chicago.

Christ Our Light welcomes Father Dan, and our prayers are with him as he continues in his shepherding of God’s people.

Dear Fellow Parishioners:

The Men of the St. Florian Holy Name Society at Christ Our Light Parish, would like to say thank you to everyone that participated and attended the Cookout. Many of you came to me and my fellow members stating you enjoyed the food. We all had a chance to meet and converse with other members of the Parish.

This is what it is all about: FRATERNIZATION. 

We would also like to extend a SPECIAL THANK YOU to everyone who donated baked goods for our dessert table. We don't know what we would do without you. The Holy Name Society appreciates your help and donations.

I would personally like to extend a special appreciation for the Ladies of the Parish that helped decorate the tables and set up the dessert table. Service and helping each other is what our faith is about.

We wish Father David well in his new assignment. God bless him.

Queridos feligreses:

Los hombres de la Sociedad del Santo Nombre de San Florian en la parroquia Christ Our Light quieren dar las gracias a todos los que participaron y asistieron a la Barbacoa. Muchos de vosotros vinisteis a verme a mí y a mis compañeros a decir que habíais disfrutado de la comida. Todos tuvimos la oportunidad de conocer y conversar con otros miembros de la parroquia.

De esto se trata todo: FRATERNIZACIÓN.

También queremos extender un AGRADECIMIENTO ESPECIAL a todos los que donaron productos horneados para nuestra mesa de postres. No sabemos qué haríamos sin ti. La Sociedad del Santo Nombre agradece vuestra ayuda y donaciones.

Personalmente, me gustaría expresar un agradecimiento especial a las Damas de la Parroquia que ayudaron a decorar las mesas y a montar la mesa de postres. El servicio y la ayuda mutua es de lo que trata nuestra fe.

Le deseamos lo mejor al padre David en su nueva misión. Dios le bendiga.
